1999 Chevy S-10 Directional Signals working/not working

I am having problems with my directional signals. Sometimes they will work; sometimes they will not. My wife was following me recently and also said my tail lights were coming off and on. I have replaced the turn signal flasher twice; I just replaced the entire turn signal switch with no positive results. Any suggestions where to start next? If seems like sometimes if making a turn and the steering wheel starts straightening up the directional signals sometimes start working again.

Hi barowe, Thank you for the donation. If the hazard lights works without any problem, it should not be the fault of the relay. The problem is either the multifunction switch or the wire connectors. Is the problem exactly the same as before replacement of the switch or were there any difference? Was the part replaced new or used? Here is the test diagram for the multifunction switch.

The problem is the same as before I replace the switch assemly. It will work sometimes and then again it will quit working.

I did not answer all of your questions but the assembly was brand new. It was aftermarket but new.

I think the multifunction switch is what I just replaced. It is the switch on the steering column where you turn on the directional signals. It was brand new aftermarket. Anyway, I am still having the same problem as I did before I replaced the switch.

Never mind about that.

Use the procedures for testing the input and output of the terminals when the signals are not working and see what is missing.
