1998 Chevy S-10 upper contol arm bushings

Remove the front tire. The upper control arm is the top triangle that attaches to the frame on one end and to the spindle on the other. On the end that goes to the frame you will find a long steel bar that has two bolts through it holding it to the frame. On the ends of that bar you will find the control arm bushings. They are pressed into the control arms and allow the arm to pivot while remaining steady. The usual failure is the rubber part, it breaks free from the steel sleeve or the steel bushing inside it and allows the control arm to move around in excess. That can cause steering problems, tire wear, noise and poor ride.
