1998 Chevy S-10 Testing the AC Compressor

The compressor is not turning on.
Already tried shorting the low pressure cycling switch connector at the accumulator....
fuses look good.....
Someone please tell me there's a way to test the compressor or something else I can check before I buy a new compressor.
