Electrical problem
1998 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving down the highway after only less then one week after buying my truck, as I was driving down the road my battery charge started depleting rapidly. My truck eventually died outside of the town my wife and I were trying to get to. It started again after about 15 to 20 minutes of being completely shut down wich leads me to believe it's not the altinater. I washed my truck earlier in the day, could I have gotten water somewhere I shouldn't have? I also messed around with the back speaker Placements since they were tore out before I got the truck. I don't think I have any live wires touching what it shouldn't? Do I need a new Battery or is it something else? A friend told me the waterpump could have gone out and that could be the reason for the battery killing my truck!!! But I don't know for sure cause I'm not a mechanic. Could the battery die going down the road the way it did due to low engine coolant? Please respond soon before I have the dealership refund my money cause I really like this truck.

Could be the battery or the alternator get both load tested and go from there.
