1998 Chevy S-10 Fan belt

Be sure you understand how the belt is wound around the pullies before removing, there may be a diagram under the hood on a sticker, if not draw one.

Release the tension on the belt tensioner using a 3/8" drive socket and backing off the tension. Slip the belt off the puley while holding the tensioner back. Ease the tensioner to a rest position and remove belt. Wrap belt back around following your diagram but keep the most accessible pulley to be the last one. Pull back on the tensioner, slip on blet and release tensioner back to apply tension.

Place the breaker bar and if necessary the socket, on the tensioner pulley bolt and rotate the tensioner counterclockwise to the released position. 5.
