valve adjustment - rocker arm torque specs

I just changed the head gasket on this vehicle. I replaced everything as removed. I started the truck but it idles very rough, I believe I need to adjust the valves but don't know the procedure. Could you please explain the procedure for adjusting the valve please. Thank you, Brent Paulson

According to my Mit1 auto references its non-adjustable for a 2.3L engine-A 4.3 V6 has a torquing procedures for the rocker arms-

TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS
Cover Bolts .................... 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Nuts .................... 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Studs .................... 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)

That makes no sense. How can the valves be non adjusting.

When I changed the head gaskets on my 350 chev, there was a prodedure to bring the valves back in sequence.

There should be a similar sequence setting for a 4 cyl

Engine not running -You can try this as you wish-put engine no.1 piston on its compression and adjust the valves do the rest follow the firing order. Or while engine is running do below

Loosen the adjusting nut till the valve clatters then tighten it 3/4 of a turn do this on both intake/exhaust valves-

I know exactly what your trying to say about the 350 CID adjustment

I have a 91 chevy S-10 with a 2.8 liter engine and I need to know how to adjust the valves properly.

Hydraulic lifters. No adjustment possible.

but how i do it is i tighten the nut down while spinning the pushrod with my fingers, when i start to feel resistance, i give the nut another 1/2 turn and move to the next one.

I had a back yard mechanic replace the cylinder head and I have two dead cylinders, # 3 has 20 lbs and # 4 is totally dead, I checked with the valve cover off and all of the rocker arms are moving up and down. the mechanics will not help me futher and say that the cam may have some flat lobes. I tried to adjust the valve clearance but I am not sure that I have done it right, please help, thanks

take the cam shaft out and examine it for wearing, if you notice the #3 and #4 lobes are worn replace, if not then i suggest you take off the heads and look for a bad head gasket or a warped head!

hello i was wondering if anyone new how set the valves prior to to torquing them down to 22 ft lbs. basically what i want to know is do i turn the crank over until the number one cylinder is a tdc(compression stroke). then do i torque the nut down 22 ft lbs and do i proceed in the firing order or just the next cylinder up from one.Do i bring up the next cylinder to tdc as well to torque Cause right now whats happening is the truck revs super high.Any help would be nice

what engine and do you have screw in rocker studs or pressed in rocker studs? If they are screw in just tighten them down to 22ft. lbs with cylinders close to tdc.
