1995 Chevy S-10 pressure valve removal

I put a gauge to the low pressure side and got a good
reading, but compressor won't engage unless I jump the
wire for the pressure switch. Is it likely to be the switch?
If so, does the freon need to be removed, or is this model one that the switch can be replaced without pulling down the system?

You need a refrigerant recovery system to pull the charge or you can do it the ghetto way by cracking a line,but Mr. EPA is not gonna like it-its illegal to discharge
