1995 Chevy S-10 no brake lights

Electrical problem
1995 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 158000 miles

whenever i am driving at night, the tail lights go out when i brake but work fine as soon as i take my foot off the brake, and the reverse lights dont work either. i checked all the fuses and they are fine, i dont think its the bulbs since they light up and are fully functional during the day, so what else could it be and how can i fix it MYSELF?

How Old are the bulbs? Check them, it is a good possibility they are bad. Or just go ahead and change them should only cost about $4 - $6 for bulbs.

Check the ground connection for the lights. Also look at the rear harness connection for corrosion or damage.
