1995 Chevy S-10 Half shaft

On the front Rh side, when the half shaft is connected to the differ. it wont turn. we replaced the 1/2 shaft when we noticed that when you rotated the tire it took quite a bit of effort & would "CLUNK" & shift the whole Diff. from right to left every 1/4 turn or less. we assumed that the inner (upper) CVJ was bad, so we replaced with new and now, when bolted into place, wont turn @ all. We removed the Diff. and found it to be ok. Wer'e at a total loss for an explaination.

Did you replace the whole shaft, or did you just replace the inner c/v joint?

I am assuming that this truck is on jack stands. Is the transfer case engaged? Is the transmission in neutral when you are trying to turn the wheel?

yes its on jack stands, no the transfer case is not engaged & yes its in neutral

Disconnect the front differential to transfer case drive shaft and try to turn the wheels. If this does not work - then there is a problem inside of the differential. Even if the c/v joints on the half shaft were bad, the wheel would still turn.
Is your differential the type with an actuator motor on it (IFS)?

BTW - What lead up to replacing the half shaft?

we found the prob. the arms on the RH are lower then the LH side, as u raise the RH a-arms, the shaft turns. The prooblum seems to be that the front stabulizer is out of wack. the (bushings are worn) causing the RHside to drop be low the point of cvj tollorance. does that make seance?

Yes it does make sense. If the suspension system has torsion bars, make sure that everything is ok with the torsion bar adjuster. If it has springs, look for a broken spring. And make sure the shocks are good - remove them to be sure...A broken stablizer bar bushing will drop the suspension, but I am not convinced that it would drop the control arm to the point that the axle will not turn..There is a suspension stop somewhere on the control arms--make sure it is there and good..Be sure to change both of the stablizer bushings.
