Your truck won't start if Belt Broke or Jumped Timing. However, you vehicle has a chain not a belt. So, if it jumped timing it won't start and it would backfire.

Have you check to make sure you have fuel getting to the injectors and spark to the plugs?

Also check the Cap and Rotor. When was the last Tune Up?

Can you describe what the vehicle is doing when trying to drive it.

Is the check engine light on? If so have codes pulled, auto zone will do it for free.

I could possibly be either the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) or the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP)
