1993 Chevy S-10 Chevy s10 Dash Light Problem

When I go to turn on my lights, my dash light does not light up and also my tail lights do not light up. When used for braking and turning, the tail lights work like they should. But once the turn signal goes off, or I let up off my brakes, they go back to not working. They both worked when I orginally purchased the vehicle so I believe the probelm is connected. Please advise me on what I should do to alleviate the problem because I cannot drive it at night in its current condition.
