I have a 1991 S10, 4 cyl. and my problem is that white smoke comes out of the tail pipe. Already did the tune up, oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires. The coolant remains at the same level and no oil drips. The service engine light comes on and off everytime i am driving. When turning off the truck, it shakes a bit. How can i find out what is wrong with it.

White smoke is water/coolant burning. Blueish smoke is oil. Black smoke is to much fuel. In your case i would get the compression checked. The reason the level doesn't go down is that while coolant gets into cylinder exhaust gas and fuel get into coolant. This points towards a bad head gasket.

Thanks a lot for your advice and feedback. I will get the compression check as soon as possible.
