1990 Chevy S-10 Blown fuses

Do you have the right size fuse? should be a 20 amp. Check the wires at the fuse box for any corrosion or other problem at the panel. https://www.2carpros.com/first_things/burned_fuse_connector.htm Operate the other items on the circuit, do they work with out blowing it?

Make sure you splices are solid to reduce the resistance. Not our of the ordinary to get a new defective part also.

yes i have the correct fuse. the horn is the only other thing on this circuit. It seems to work fine.

Unless mitchell one is wrong, there are other items on the circuit.

Check the wiring connections, including splices and the back of the fuse box.

If all good, return the lighter socket for a another.

Ok the horn and dimmer switch is on the same circuit. I have no glove box light. The only light on is the dome light. I don't even have instrument panel light and never have had those. I'm still blowing fuses. I used butt connectors to attatch the new wires to the old. I will keep looking.

Make sure the power is hooked to the center and ground to the body of the new lighter.also need to be sure the old lighter is cut out of the circuit. Sounds like it may be hooked up wrong, goes to dead short when lighter is pushed in which connects the circuit
