Electrical problem
1989 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

My batt. cable came loose the other night, and burned my alternator up, so I got a new one. There are 2 wires that hook to the back of the alternator. one splices into 2, and the other goes to the pos. side batt. I can have the neg. wire hooked up, and the pos. cable hooked up, but still have no power at all in the truck. I will have power in the truck if I stick the wire that comes off the back of the alternator too the pos. battery post. I have no guages working now. I need a wiring dia gram or something for the wires thar come off the alt. Never seen this before. If the pos. and neg. cables are hooked to the batt. even without an alt. on it, you should still have power to the vehicle.I'm thinking something burned up at the fuse box.
