1988 Chevy S-10 irratic idle and it stalls

its hard starting and once it starts it seems to run rich and stalls. it will only restart when you hold the gas pedal to the floor. irratic idle. it seems to have no vaccume line problems.

Is it fuel injected or carburated?

It could be the fuel pressure regulator. Also check the throttle position sensor.
