1974 Chevy S-10 Distributor

I just replaced the intake manifold and carb. At first startup the truck fired up quick and sounded great. Now it appears to idle a little rough like it is missing. I have also replaced spark plugs, plug wires, rotor (distributor), and coil. When I rev it up it sounds smooth but I'm not sure I could tell if it was missing at that rpm. Is it possible that I put the distributor in and off by one tooth?

Yes, it is possible to install these distributers off a tooth or two.

so if it's possible to install a tooth or two off, can you adjust it by just turning the distributor until the timing is set right and then its fine? or are there other issues and it needs to be right on?

No. It has to be right on so you can advance or retard the timing as needed. If you did not remove the timing chain it is no big deal to re-install the distributer.
