1998 Chevy Prizm Orifice tube

I have 380 high side and 35 low on a hot day and it doesn't change when I run the car and ac. Nothing gets cold. I am assuming I have a high side blockage. Does that sound right, and can you tell me where the orifice tube would be located?

Hi Homerbsharp, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation System Operating Pressure (3) High Side270-305 psi (18.9-21.4 kg/cm2 ) Low Side34-40 psi (2.3-2.8 kg/cm2 I am assuming I have a high side blockage. if it is the high side will be low and so as the low side. Could be air in the system or its overcharge Removal Procedure Disconnect the negative battery cable. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Important: Cap the open fittings to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the refrigeration system.

Disconnect the union (4) of the evaporator liquid hose (5) and the evaporator liquid tube (3).

Carefully remove the orifice tube with needle nose pliers. Installation Procedure Important: Use new O-rings lubricated with 525 viscosity mineral oil.

Install the orifice tube to the evaporator liquid hose.

Connect the evaporator liquid hose (5) to the evaporator liquid tube (4). Tighten Tighten the evaporator liquid hose (5) to the evaporator liquid tube (3) union (4) to 25 N.m (19 lb ft) . Connect the negative battery cable Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system Operate the A/C system and check for leaks.

I thought that when the engine was off the high side and low side would equalize, but there is no change. Am I wrong about the equalizing?

Try having it vacuumed out and see what happens
