Will not stay running once engine is heated up

2000 Impala 120,000mi. this just started, driving down the road and the car stopped running. tried to start again and would not stay running. the next day (after it was towed home) i was able to start it and seem to run fine until the engine heated up (to normal temp) and it died. it would not start again until it cooled down. [u:3cb3b25235]although i am getting a very strong emission smell when the veichle is running[/u:3cb3b25235]. i was not receiving any codes from the OBD reader. i replaced the fuel filter and still the same thing. HELP!?

You may have an ignition module that is going bad, check around and see if anyone near you can test the ignition module to see if it is going bad. I had bonneville that had similar problems and it turned out to be the ignition module.

it idles and revs up just fine on cold startup, like there is no problem. it will run about ten minutes then the idle drops alittle and then dies. the temp gauge reads a normal temp. i will check the connections and let you know, but if you can think of anything esle please let me know...

i did read some of the other threads and some of the symptoms sounded like what was happening to my car. so, i also replaced the fuel pressure regulator, which did take care the smell while the car was running, but it still died. i though i would start off with the cheap parts first.

also does anyone know what the psi is for the fuel on this car?

Your best source for answers to a question like PSI is your local chevy dealships parts department. Call them. Tell them you need a fuel pump. Once he finds the part, ask him what the output psi rating is.
Differnet models, engine sizes etc, all have different pumps and ratings. Can you test this yourself anyways? maybe 55 to 61 psi.
