Starter noise and stcuk Bendix

You have a problem with hold/pull winding on the solenoid or the shift lever return spring or an overrunning clutch problem-bottm line new starter.

You sure you got the correct starter? Noise before engine starts your too far from the flexplate-noise after starts-too! close. Engage the pinion to the flexplate manually there's a hole on the starter to do that. and check your .020 clearance between 2 teeth on flexplate and pinion-then go from there shimming it.

When you engage the starter is it growling/moaning after a start or whatever.
