P0103 Mass air flow circuit high input

1996 Motor home P 30 chevy chassi, 454 engine, 42000 miles. The code reader says P0103 mass air flow circuit high Input. The chk eng. lite came on while pulling a long hill in a very cold rain storm. It did the same thing in snow about 5000 miles ago but reset it self. IS the sensor bad or could it be something else. Thanks.

The resistance is set by heat of the wire in the maf sensor. If the thing gets too cold but the engine thinks it shouldn't it might set a code. The code resetting is normal if the problem is minor. Actually, it might be the intake air sensor is bad. All i would do is buy the Maf cleaner spray, and clean it. Maybe change the intake air temp sensor if you feel industrious and call it a day.
