Hello,

I am an owner of a 1994 Chevrolet Van, engine size 5.7; Model: G20; Mileage: 196984. I recently replaced the following items on the van: oil change, oxygen sensor, idler pulley, spark plugs and wires, ignition rotor, and a new thermostat. The belt slipped of because the idler pulley broke and then the van overheated. Now, when I go out to warm up the van, this is what happens. The van gets hot, it starts to shake, then when I feel the hose to the thermostat it is hard and it begins to shake and shuts off. I have been troubleshooting for a while now and can't seem to come up with a solution, I was wondering if you could possibly help me with this van dilemma. Thank You.

Any air in the cooling system? When you say shake, do you mean the hose is "banging"? that means the fluid in the engine is boiling

Try going to local parts house and get a chemical test kit for head gaskets. They arent 100% but as close as it gets.
