Hi I'm currently doing an engine swap on a 1992 camaro. The camaro has a 5.0 305 for an engine. The engine I am putting in is a 1994 LT1 from an Impala. My question is can I purchase a 1994 corvette a/c compressor and use it on my a/c system? The reasoning behind this is that the 1994 Impala a/c compressor hits my frame. I do not wish to notch my frame or buy a cheap looking bracket for $500. So I was thinking of getting a used bracket and new a/c compressor for a 1994 corvette might fix the problem since this item is located on the top drivers side. Once again my question will the corvette a/c compressor work on my a/c system?

I don't see why not. 1) make sure that the refrigerant line fittings are the same so it will screw right into the compressor, 2) make sure the compressor you are planning on using uses the same type of refrigerant as the rest of the A/C system you are planning on using, and 3) make sure the wiring harness will plug into the compressor or can be adapted.

I hope this helps. Maybe someone else out there has some more suggestions on what to watch out for.
