Engine Noise through speakers

I have a 90 Chevy 1500 4x4 mileage is unknown because of a broken gear in odometer. Question is my speakers seem to pick up some sort of static off of engine. It is more higher pitched at higher rpm and lower pitched at lower rpm. Is there a short or some sort of electrical problem that is possibly causing this?

the ignition system causes that noise. It most likely means the supressor on the plugs are worn. Sometimes it can be the plug wires or even certain kinds of distibutors are known to do that. I fit's while the radios on. If it happens otherwise the head unit or amp may be the culprit. (I just never heard of interferance with it off) You really need in that case to see a car audio specialist.

I have a question for you, what kind of sound is it making, a whining, poping or static. There are several different types of noise suppressors for stereos that are available at most stereo shops. I did have a problem with noise on my Alpine sound system. It ended up having to install an noise suppressor on the antenna which just plugged into the back of the radio where the antenna connection went in, then just plug the antenna lead into the supressor. Others include one for the alternator for a whine.

Thanks for the input. I am about ready for a tune up anyway. Maby new plugs and wires will solve the problem. If not I will try the supressor thing.
