Electric fan

Hi everyone, I have 1989 Chevy ck3500,454, manual stick with 85k miles on it. It has a factory auxiliary fan designed to come on when the engine coolant reaches a certain temperature. My problem is it's 70 degrees outside and the fan is constantly cycling off & on at idle or any other speed when it shouldn't be on at all. It may stay on for a minute, then off for a minute. I've been reading about a fan switch, is this what I am looking for to fix it & if so where is it located, thanks for any help, much appreciated.

I think the the switch you are referring to is fan relay. This relay should be controlled by a temp sensor that will cause the relay to pick up and send power to the fan. If I had to make a guess I would say that the temp sensor is defective and causing the fan to go on went it is not suppose to. If you trace the wires from the fan to the relay to the sensor, you can then test it and replace it.
