1973 Chevy pickup truck; 3/4 ton
454 Engine
105000 miles
I just inherited a 1973 Chevy pickup truck with a 454 engine; it has two fuel tanks; I need to know how these fuel tanks work? are they independent, or do they transfer into eachother. the reason I ask is that there is a pushbutton switch on the dash that allows me to see the two fuel levels on the fuel gage. When I drive, the right side tank goes from full to empty, but the other tank remains full. I need to know if when the right tank shows completely empty, will the left tank takeover automatically? or do I have to do something to transfer to the other tank; I dont see any switch that allows me to do this?
thanks for your help
