1985 chevy s-10, v6 w/carb on 125,000. I replaced the head gaskets but came across some trouble with the adjustments of the valves. The book said after placing the engine on tdc to tighten the nut until there is no more lash on the pushrod, but by then the nut is al the way down with alot of tension. I counted about ten treads on the bolt. Is this normal or am i tighten the nut to tight. Please help.

This doesnt sound right, however I cant say I have ever seen a set up like you describe. Usually there is a center stud that screws in to adjust, and the nut is just for tourqe to keep the stud from turning.
