alternater problems

my gadge indicates it is not charging put in new alternater and same thing old alt found to be good we have found no fuses blown is there a sensor or fuseable link that could be causeing this problem

Using a ohmmeter, connect the positive lead to the battery post(the bolted wire on the back of your alternator) to the positive lead on your battery. Set the meter to read resistance and you should read almost 0 ohms resistance between the alternator and the batteries postive lead. If you don't have your fusible link, fuse or damaged wiring. I had a similar problem with a 280 ZX that I had come to find out the previous owner had replaced the wiring an did a poor job of installing the new wiring, after I replace the wiring my problem went away.
