I need to what is causing my problem. This is a 98 K1500 and when I have a load on the truck or I'm pulling a trailer (2 four wheelers) and I'm climbing a hill about 3/4 up the hill it starts to shutter and I have to slow way down and baby it to the top. After that it takes off and runs fine again. It will smoke the tires off and run great until I'm hauling a load. I've been told the torque converter is bad?? I changed the filter and changed the fluid which was totally clean and not burnt and nothing but a little powder on the magnet. Very clean. Any suggestions?

it sounds like a torque converter as they will shudder, but to make sure just take it to a trans pro and i'm sure he can give you a diagnosis very quickly .....
