1998 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My husband purchased this truck that will sometimes start, and when it does he can drive it down the road any amount of miles and it just completely shuts down. So far he has replaced the fuel filter & fuel pump. Also after it has been started, and stops it will not start again. We are very puzzled as to what is wrong with this vehicle. Can you please give us your opinion? I really think we got a bum deal on this truck.

Thank you for the donation.

When vehicle could not be started, it could be ignition or fuel system and you need to isloate it before we can continue with further diagnosis.

Both system depends on electrical circuitry and that could be the main cause. Here is a link from where you can get some idea what to check for when it could not be started so that we know which direction to go.

Ignition system takes precedencs over fuel system as it requires the system to be operating to get the fuel system working.

Btw, does the dash indicators work correctly when the engine stalled out?
