Engine Cooling problem
1996 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi

We recently replaced the water pump and some hoses on a 1996 Chev, V8 and now the car is running at half on the temp guage where as before it was just under 1/4. We are in Australia and over here the car is called a Holden Commodore. I hope you can help.

as long as its not over heating i wouldnt worry, for safe measure you may want to change the thermostat, but I wouldnt worry about it unless it goes into the red zone, you can also have your engine coolant temp sensor checked , that tells the computer what the temp of the engine/coolant is and it could be giving a false reading ultimately causing the fans to come on late, giving the temp gauge a hotter reading. did that make any sense lol
