I'm working on a 1995 Chevy P30 stepvan with a 6.5L diesel. I replaced the water pump because it was leaking but then discovered the timing cover backside gasket was leaking also. I removed the pump, alternator and all other items to access the cover. I removed all the cover mounting bolts, including the oil pan bolts, as well as the vibration dampner. The camshaft sprocket has to be pulled out and away so the timing cover swings out. I removed the three bolts holding the sprocket in place but it won't pull out. You can move it in and out about 1/4" but it won't pull free. I need an answer as soon as possible so I can get the customer back his truck. you will need to us a gear puller to get it off and then you can finish the job

Have you tried a couple of angle pry bars and "walking" the gear off? The only thing that holds the gear on are the 3 bolts.

My main concern or question was if the gear was attached to the injector pump in back of the timing cover. I have pullers and have not tried to pry or pull it off yet because I didn't want to damage anything.

The injector pump runs off it's own gear on the camshaft. You shouldn't bother that.
