Heater problem
1993 Other Chevrolet Models Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 107000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a '93 Chevy Lumina Euro.

A week ago the "low coolant" light appeared. I took it to an auto parts store and dumped in a thing of coolant. A few days later the light reappeared, so I mixed water with some coolant and dumped that in.

Now the temperature gauge is all over the place; it goes up into the red, only to drop down again. Then it rises as I drive. Today, I found I had NO HEAT. What is going on??? I'm here cuz I don't wanna spend alot of money I would rather keep in my wallet. Thanks.

If you have to keep adding coolant, it has to be going someplace. There must be a leak. This could be on the outside or inside the engine. If you are loosing coolant and gaining on the oil dipstick, you probably have a leek in the head gasket. Other things things you might want to check are the raditor and hoses. Fill the raditor and let the vehicle warm up. Look for leaks. BE CAREFULL THINGS ARE VERY HOT! It may also be the heater core (as I just fixed in my s-10). If the windows seem to get wet from the inside, you smell antifreeze inside the car or the floorboad is wet on the passenger side, this might be your problem.

Hope tis helps...Jeff
