Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Other Chevrolet Models Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1988 Chevy 1 ton dually with a TBI 454. I took out the bigblock and replaced it with a CARBURATED small block 350. Dual tanks, both have electric fuel pumps. I installed a fuel pressure regulator and tokk off and plated off the manual fuel pump. My problem is this....when I take off from a dead stop, the truck loads up. Down the highway, if I push down on the gas, it acts like its out of fuel....maybe again loading up, not sure. Ive chased my tail thinking its timing, reset the dist. etc. Im pretty sure its fuel. Its a standard bore engine with a mild cam and a quadrajet carb. Nothing special. Ive had the motor in other cars and it runs like a dream. Right now its junk. What is the best way to adjust this prob? The regulator has a return line, has a hex screw with a jam nut on top. I got it from autozone. HELP!
Thank you,

You might want to put some carb cleaner in the gas depending on how long it sat. It does sound like a fuel problem. Make sure you have enough fuel pressure and volume to run your engine. Have you replaced the filter in the carb? Also check your firing order and make sure you have enough power to your coil and ignition system. Good luck let me know if I can help more. Feedback and votes are always appreciated.
