1971 Other Chevrolet Models Two Wheel Drive

i have a 71 Chevy c10 pickup it will stay running at idle but when its driven on the highway it dies it was suggested that grease may be needed under the ignition module. could that be true & what effect would it have on it staying running while being drove

71 chevys had points not electronic systems. Your wires going from the module to the pickup coil are porbably bad so when you give it gas the vacuum pulls the pick up coil and the wires disconnect inside the insulation. that was common on those as well as the center coil piece would break and not pass the coil. you cn come back to the site look under repair then tune up and it will go step by step on how to diagnose the system.
