i just had my 2 bbl rochester carb rebuilt ...it ran hella good for about a week or so. it still runs good but at the stops it idles low and shuts off and is somewhat hard to start and will not start on its own i have to hold the pedal down . after it starts up slowly putt putting here and there with a cloud of smoke its ok untill another stop. ect ect...as i pulled in to a gas station i took the cleaner element off and seen some smoke ...or vapor out of the carb. and a little bit of fuel out on the side. ...i have no fuel leaks. i also noticed that the exhaust smells more of fuel. if theres a new float i do not know...but for the price i paid to get it rebuilt i would of expected it to be new. im thinking i need to replace the choke also.

ahhh the joy of owning a classic....but they are fun to drive!

Sounds like a faulty needle and seat, and/or a
saturated float. It is possible that this carb might even have a brass float, which can get a tiny hole or crack and fill with fuel causing an
overfuel condition. mickey-d
