I just bought the car when you try to give it to much gas it sounds like it is sucking alot of air and hesitates for a couple seconds then stops even when in park if you hold your hand real close over the carb the response is right there, every once in a while it pops back. I noticed some sediments in the filter, also i am not sure if the vacuum lines could be causing any of it the one off the tranny goes to a t and splits to the distributer and the carb, then the one from the choke (plastic round with the metal plunger) goes from itself tothe other side of the carb

Its always hard to tell without looking at the car but from what your saying it sounds like the plumbing on you vacuum lines is way off. In 1963 its a very simple setup but not the same on every vehicle. You need to get a vacuum hose routing diagram, chiltons repair manuals have them in there. I dont think the choke should go to the carb and the distributer vacuum advance should not go to the manifold. Transmission should go to manifold between dist and carb. The diagram for that year is very easy to read and follow. Vacuum hose is cheap, go buy the correct size and follow the diagram and hook it all up correctly. Shouldnt cost more than 5 bucks for the hose and 20 for the book, the book is a good invesment anyway. Then you will want to check and adjust if needed your timing and the choke. good luck, Rod
