2004 Monte Carlo, 47500 miles, V6 engine. I purchased this car approx. 1 year ago with just under 36000 miles. After 1 week the car was returned for a problem with the brakes pulsating severly. It was determined that the rotors could not be resurfaced and were replaced and old pads were used. The brakes are now pulsating severly again and the dealership is telling me that they can not warranty the rotors because the brake pads have worn enough to cause the rotors damage. I'm told the brake pads @ 36000 must have been 1/3 to 1/2 to warrant not replacing. The dealership stated that normal pad wear in our rural area would be 40000 to 45000. Did I fall off the boat yesterday? Is this not just bad service? Is it remotely possible that these brakes had 1/3 to 1/2 pad remaining @ 36000? Would it not have been a no brainer @ 36000 to replace the pads as well as the rotors? Another local dealership stated that normal pad wear would be 20000 to 35000. Which is a more believable truth? Your knowledge & attention would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
