Brake Sensor

I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu
80000 miles
No major repairs

My brake lights stay on all the time even when the brakes are not engaged. Could this be a sensor problem?

one of two sources that I would expect, the brake fluid is low-check the master cylinder. Two the parking brake is partially engaged.
