I'm stumped. My car wouldn't start, and I took it to a parts store to have it tested, and they said that the alternator is bad. I just got done putting a new alternator in, and the car started right up. However, I tried rolling the (electric) window down and the car started to die. I revved the engine and the gauges started going all over the place! After that I tried depressing the brake and the car began to sputter again like it was going to die. I tried the turn signals, flicking the lights and rolling the window back up and each time the engine began to die.

The car has a brand-new battery and alternator, and will jump-start just fine. But once it's started, if I try do do anything it will shut off.

Any thoughts on what could be happening and/or how I can fix it?

The only brands that I have had good luck with are rebuilt ones by palladium, USA, and the Napa premium line. My bet is the one you installed is bad off the shelf.
