Engine Performance problem
2003 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 150,00 miles

my battery went dead in this cold weather. now we can't open the hood to get to the battery. The latch under the dash is not popping it up and we think something is frozen. any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thank you.

asically let it thaw out. the hood latch my be frozen. check and make sure the hood release cable is ok and not broken

I had the exact same issue with my 2004 malibu. I got a spay bottle - filled it with rubbing alcohol and spayed the latch thought the grill. Maybe 15-20 sprays. Waited 5 minutes and the latch opened.

Believe me I put proper grease in after that.

I know this is a little after this forum was made but I am just now having the same problems. Did you use any certain kind of rubbing alcohol?
