Electrical problem
2002 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 60,435 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
This happened last summer (seems to happen in warm weather) and then went away for the winter, now it's back.

I start the car - the engine is fine, however nothing electrical works. No gauges, no lights, no radio, no a/c, no windows, door locks etc. Then I drive down the road or wait for a minute - and everything comes back at one time. Now the check engine light stays on and the service engine soon light stays on.

I can't put more money into this car - I already had to pay for the intake manifold problem. Is the car safe to drive? Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with tne engine but I'd hate to be somewhere and have that kick out.

I would suggest that you get the vehicle scanned. To me it sounds like a ingnition switch is cutting off power to the rest of the car. I cant say if it will be safe or not but i would highly suggest getting it looked at.
