2001 Chevy Malibu engine surges while holding accelerator s

2001 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I just changed the fuel pump in the car and after that the engine surges while holding accelerator steady at about 4,000 rpm . I did not have this problem before.

Hi:
If you had the battery disconnected for a period of time, the computer may need time to relearn everything. Maybe 50 miles. If you have exceeded that and no check engine light has come on, you need to check the fuel pressure to make sure it is where it needs to be.
