1998 Chevy Malibu Door open light in dash stays on

i have a 1998 chevy malibu and my door open light in the dash stays on causeing my interior lights to stay on, i un-hooked the battery to see if that would solve the problem but when i hooked it back the light came back on and my gas gage dropped past empty and i have a full tank of gas.

wires come from the lamp dimmer module , located under the dash goes to each door . If the door is grounded by a bad door switch the lights will stay on. check each door switch for broken or bad switch
