Took the 98 Malibur in yesterday - air wasn't blowing cold. They found a pin prick from a rock in the condenser. The price to replace was very high. So here is my question...
I am a decent shade tree mech. Just replaced the lower intake gasket on this car a couple months ago, also just finished a belt change on my Passat (with water pump, new cam seals, etc). So I can wrench a little. Yet never messed with air conditioning. (except a top off or light recharge)
The Haynes manual is pretty straight forward on removing the radiator (and condeser). How ever a few sites say don't try it at home and there are special tools required. The Haynes doens't say anthing like that.
Is the procedure fairly straight forward? Can I attempt this at home? Any recommendations / tips on what to do or watch out for? Just wanted some advice before I jump in.
