An intermittent light screaching sound comes from the front drivers side area, probably from the wheel but maybe not. It sounds like metal scraping on metal. Usually at around 40 mph but not always. Sometimes for 5 seconds sometimes for 40 or 50 then not for 15 or twenty minutes. Also it tends to reduce or even go away when things warm up while driving around. It's been going on for about 6,000 miles. Doesn't seem to be a danger, doesn't effect the performance of the car but is quite annoying.

It's too loud to be the tabs on the break pads. I replaced them awhile ago, didn't help. I checked them recently and they are wearing evenly. It isn't directly related to brake use it happens while just driving along. Comes and goes. The brakes are working fine, evenly etc.

Inside the car with the windows up it sounds like the sound the old speedometer cables made when they were wearing out. There is no apparent problem with the speedometer.

It's not the serpentine belt, the sound is different and the belt looks fine.

I'll be more than happy to donate if you give me a usable answer.

make sure the brake rotor backing plate is not contacting the rotor.check your front wheel bearing for any looseness.
