Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Lumina

Is it possible for a Power window switch to be bad if only 1 of the buttons doesn't work? I pushed the button to make my driver's side window go down and it went down, but it will not come back up. There were no weird noises and it went down smoothly. All the other buttons on the swith work just fine. I thought about replacing the swiitch first before attempting the motor or regulator.

There's nothing wrong with your motor/regulator. Your switch either has a loose/corroded contact, or the wiring in the circuit that controls the "up" movement is loose/broken.

Replacing parts with the hope of solving the problem hardly ever works and only cost you money that could've been spent on a mechanic.

The proper way to diagnose this problem is with a test light. Use it to probe the switch as you depress it. If there's no voltage present at the terminals when you hold the switch in a certain position, then you trace that wire backwards until you find the break in the wire or a loose/corroded connection.
