1996 Chevy Lumina spit and spudder

I was driving home from work the other day and my car started to spit and spudder about five blocks from home( about a 12 minute drive). It was also very cold to, but I have no idea if that had anything to do with it. Well now it does it just here and there and seems to do it more frequently the more the car is driven. Its like if I just drive it for 15 to 20 minutes it sometimes dont even do it, but if I drive it more it does it more. I hope this describes the problem well enough for you to figure it out for me. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you!
