My car is making a popping noise. It is worse when I push the gas pedal than when it is in neutral, or just sitting. But the noise is always there. When driving, once I get up to speed, and let off the gas a bit you really don't hardly hear it. Someone told me it sounded like a bad lifter. If so, is this expensive and hard to repair? Will it hurt to keep driving it or should it be fixed right away?

the noise may be a bent/broken pushrod or it could also e a lifter or a camshaft. You really should have it checked out to see what the problem is and have it fixed..
