1993 Chevy Lumina trouble code 42

i pulled a trouble code out of the cars computer and it said it was the ignition control circuit, does that have to deal with the ignition control module?

the car would start fine in the morning but as you drive it for about 2 miles down the road it would stall out but can restart engine after a little while.

Ignition modules are sensitive to heat. This is not just from the engine compartment temperatures but also from the electrical energy flowinf through them. They are sealed units and the heat has to radiat through the case to the outside for cooling purposes.

They are usually mounted where they can get plenty of air flow. I believe you will find yours mounted on the front of the engine behind the cooling fan, or around the coil paks.

These units can go bad if components inside breakdown from heat. Typically they give an indication of failure by shutting down when they overheat. They will usually allow the engine to fire again after a cooling off period.
