1991 Chevy Lumina fuel system

the lumina stalled while returning from a trip to the beach. we had the car towed to a dealer for repairs. after 'tests' the dealer says car ran out of fuel and has manfunction gas guage sending unit. Since dealer had removed the fuel tank they suggested replacing the sending unit, fuel pump and filter.... $1500. We picked the car up at the dealer, but barely made it home. It sputters and barely runs. Guess they forgot to test drive it. Now what?

If your saying you paid 1500 for the repair and it still isn't fixed? I'd call the dealership.

Yes, we paid the $1500 (parts and labor) for new fuel pump, filter and fuel gauge sending unit. Car still runs awful so it went back to the dealer this morning. We asked the dealer if they checked the fuel pressure regulator... their response was, the mechanic who worked on the car is not here right now. Anyway, makes me wonder if the car was really out of gas or the gauge sensor suddenly went bad since the car still chugs along like it's about to run out of gas. Needless to say, I'm not impressed with the quality control.

Yes, I will talk to the dealer again... I'm thinking the service manager will just give the usual line... e.g. well, we seem to have a secondary problem. So, I'll try to find my way to the GM... not that that will help, but worth a try.
